Ratio Utility Billing System: Tenant FAQ
How shared water bills are calculated at SNSHN—and what to expect for timing, proration, and your monthly budget.
RUBS stands for Ratio Utility Billing System. It splits a shared utility bill among residents using a pre-set formula.
One city water meter for the whole property. SNSHN divides the bill among occupied units.
Single-family residents pay their own full water bill directly.
We use bedroom count across occupied units, not headcount.
Your charge = (Bedrooms in your unit ÷ Total bedrooms in all occupied units) × Total building water bill

Budget tip: Water is billed quarterly. A cycle covering March → June may post in late July and is due with August rent.
Mid-cycle move-ins/outs are prorated.
SNSHN monitors for spikes that indicate leaks. Report issues immediately.
